A CHILDREN'S book about the Queen's official residence in Scotland has been produced to mark her Diamond Jubilee.

The illustrated work, produced by the Royal Collection, tells the 500-year history of the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

The tale is told by a palace warden who explains about the kings and queens who lived there and how the Palace is used today.

Alison Campbell, learning manager at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, said: "The book introduces younger readers to the magic, drama, romance, history and spectacle that is encapsulated in the Palace of Holyroodhouse."
