SOME of the of the most striking photographs from around the world have gone on display at Holyrood.

The Scottish Parliament is the first UK venue to host a travelling exhibition of the winning entries in the The World Press Photo competition.

Among the images on display is Samuel Aranda's World Press Photo of the Year, an image of a mother comforting her son after a gas attack in Yemen, seen here with curator Tessa Hetharia.

The exhibition runs until July 28, with late opening on Thursdays. Entry is free. Picture: Gordon Terris.
