THE Merchant City Festival in Glasgow was hailed a massive success after thousands took to the streets for five days of colourful celebrations.
Now in its 11th year, it showcased the best art, music, theatre, dance, comedy, food and drink, the city has to offer.
An estimated 95,000-plus flocked to see more than 300 performances in 75 venues.
Visitors enjoyed hundreds of stalls as well as food from pasta to paella.
The Fish Out Of Water street artists entertained yesterday afternoon. ,And French artist Olivier Grossetete got locals to build a 60ft cardboard tower – then push it over.
Earlier, the Big Man Walking parade, with an eight-metre tall puppet strolling through the Merchant City, marked the start of the weekend.
Gordon Matheson, leader of Glasgow City Council and festival chairman, said: "We promised the most ambitious, wide-ranging, colourful and inclusive festival ever. An incredible programme and the good weather have created a tangible buzz.
"Some 95,000 people have come. Those numbers gene-rate a significant economic benefit for the city."
