AT least nine people have been killed after flash floods swept through the south of Spain.

After months of drought, a deluge flooded streets and homes in the Mediterranean provinces of Malaga in the south and Murcia and Almeria in the southeast.

A 52-year-old British woman is reportedly among those missing in Almeria.

Regional officials last night said nine people had died and at least 600 had been evacuated from their homes. At least two motorways have been closed and some public transport has been disrupted.
