THE owners of closure-threatened Hall's of Broxburn meat processing plant said they would continue to review offers to buy the factory over the weekend.
A decision on whether the West Lothian plant could be saved had been expected this week as potential buyers lodged bids following the end of a 90-day consultation period.
The Dutch owners of Hall's, Vion, said it had received two late bids and would make an announcement at the beginning of next week.
Vion said at the close of the consultation that unless a viable offer was made the plant would close by February.
Around 1700 workers are waiting to hear their fate.
Vion said the site was losing £79,000 a day, and rejected a £2 million bailout from the Scottish Government, saying it would need £100m to fix the problems.
A spokesman for Vion said: "We can confirm that we received two offers for the Hall's site prior to today's deadline. In addition, one note of interest in the site was withdrawn.
"Our intention is to complete this process as quickly as possible with a view to making a formal announcement at the beginning of next week."
