Team selectors hope to bolster the Saltires bowling attack for tomorrow's meeting with Highveld Lions by adding Rob Taylor, the Leicestershire pace bowler who joined the squad last week after taking part in a charity cycle from Land's End to John O' Groats.

Taylor took part in Sunday's defeat by North West Dragons but was unable to bowl. "We've been easing Rob into action as he was understandably still pretty stiff after his bike ride when he arrived," said Pete Steindl, Saltires' coach. "We hope he'll be able to play a full part on Wednesday as he will give us something extra."

Left-armer Taylor is one of four England-born players on the Saltires' South African tour. Along with Richard Coughtrie, Matt Machan and David Murphy, the 22-year-old qualifies through the ICC's new  parentage rule.
