A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a shopkeeper.

Javaid Ali, 48, was stabbed in his Sunshine Grocers shop in Green Road, Paisley on June 15. He died in the town's Royal Alexandra Hospital on June 29.

Around 60 police officers visited more than 700 homes during the investigation and took around 800 statements from people.

Police launched a fresh appeal two months after the stabbing, when advert trailers were stationed at Phoenix Retail Park, Renfrewshire and Braehead Shopping Centre, Glasgow urging people with information to contact them.

The case also appeared on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.

The 31-year-old is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court later today.
