The foundation set up in memory of aid worker Linda Norgrove has given tens of thousands of pounds more cash to help women and children in Afghanistan.
In its second annual newsletter, Linda's parents – John and Lorna – admit the war-torn country remains "complex."
Mr and Mrs Norgrove, from Uig on the Isle of Lewis, wrote: "We continue to try and help women and children, generally nurtured and well looked after within Afghan society, but for whom, when things fall apart, there is absolutely no safety net and who become so vulnerable."
Hospitals, orphanages and IT facilities are among projects to win funding by the foundation.
Ms Norgrove, 36, died in a failed rescue mission in 2010. She was killed by a grenade thrown by one of her rescuers during fighting to save her.
