ZAGREB: Former Croatian prime minister Ivo Sanader was sentenced to 10 years in prison yesterday for taking bribes from foreign companies.
He is the highest state official to be convicted of corruption in the state. Croatia is due to join the European Union in July and the verdict will be seen as evidence of a crackdown on corruption.
