A group of Spanish tourists fled Scotland and vowed never to return after they were subjected to an unprovoked gang attack.

The tourists were walking down Perth High Street when they were set upon. They told police they were so distressed that they were flying straight home.

The incident came to light the day after it emerged that Scotland has the highest assault rate in the United Kingdom.

The trio who chased and knocked over members of the Spanish party were free to roam Scotland's streets despite notching up convictions for 80 offences in the past decade.

Perth Sheriff Court was yesterday shown CCTV of the incident. Louise Burden, 21, can be seen running up and attacking one of them, before her partner Ross Frankowski, 28, and his friend Dayne Cairns, 23, join in.

Cairns was jailed for 90 days while sentence on Frankowski and Burden was deferred.
