Work on a controversial city bypass has begun a month after a court challenge was dismissed.

Ground investigations are under way along the route of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR), which is expected to carry traffic 28 miles around the city by spring 2018.

Transport minister Keith Brown said the Scottish Government can "crack on" following the decision by the UK Supreme Court.

He said: "Just one month on and we have already informed the construction industry tenders for the main works will be issued in spring next year."
