Moneeb Iqbal, the leg-spin bowler, is a strong contender for a professional contract from Cricket Scotland.

The former Durham player has endured a stop-start international career since becoming Scotland's youngest internationalist at the age of 16 a decade ago.

He has, though, impressed coaching staff after being called into the squad during last year's World T20 qualifiers in Dubai.

He also made an impact during the national side's recent tour to South Africa and fits the bill as the selectors look for back-up spin options to Majid Haq.

Cricket Scotland are expected to add up to three more players to their professional pool when they announce a new round of contracts next week.
