THE board of a new supercollege in the west of Scotland has announced its principal and chief executive.

Audrey Cumberford, the current principal of Reid Kerr College in Paisley, will take over the new college, which incorporates Clydebank College, and James Watt College in Greenock.

She will take up her appointment in August when the new college is officially launched, and will become responsible for over 35,000 students and approximately 1000 staff spread over three campuses in Greenock, Clydebank and Paisley, with an anticipated turnover of £55 million.

Mrs Cumberford is a board member of the Scottish Funding Council and director of Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce.
