A COMMUNITY has rallied and donated thousands of pounds worth of food, clothes and toys for families affected by flooding this Christmas.
The festive spirit was very strong among Stonehaven residents who went the extra mile to help their neighbours, families and friends who suffered during the severe weather.
Among those working tirelessly to provide relief was David Flemming, pictured left, who was helping out at Stonehaven Town Hall in Aberdeenshire.
The area, which has been hit by two weekends of severe weather, has applied for government funds to help the clean-up. Around 100 residents in Stonehaven, were evacuated when the River Carron burst its banks on Sunday morning.
The previous weekend there were gale-force winds and high tides.
Finance Secretary John Swinney said the government would make funds available to Aberdeenshire Council for the recovery, and commended the residents of Stonehaven for their hard work in helping the weather-battered town.
