RANGERS oldco liquidator BDO is pursuing a £25 million claim against Craig Whyte's former lawyers over a takeover "deception".

The insolvency firm winding up RFC 2012 plc is pursuing Collyer Bristow in a civil action raised at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

Collyer Bristol is contesting claims it deliberately deceived the Ibrox club during Craig Whyte's £1 takeover of the club from Sir David Murray.

The case is due to be called later this year at the Chancery Division of the High Court in London and includes HM Revenue and Customs, which claimed it was owed £2.8m and two companies linked to Craig Whyte.

The first, Merchant Turnaround was claiming £1m. A £2.95m claim was put forward by the second, Worthington Group-owned Jerome Group pension fund.
