Scotland is the best place in the UK for the diagnosis of dementia, new figures show.
Henry Simmons, chief executive of Alzheimer Scotland, said: "Scotland has worked effectively to improve dementia diagnosis rates over a number of years.
"The impressive ranking of many of Scotland's health boards demonstrates the significant progress."
Across the UK just 46% of sufferers were diagnosed in 2012, the Alzheimer's Society said, adding that, while this figure was an improvement on 2011, there was still thought to be 428,500 people in the UK with the condition but not diagnosed.
Charity chief executive Jeremy Hughes said this means sufferers are not receiving the support, benefits and medical treatments that can help them live with the condition.
