A CANNABIS farmer whose drug factory was found after he burned his dinner and called the fire brigade has been ordered to carry out 250 hours of community service.

Lloyd Bellshaw was cooking his tea when he left chicken on a griddle. It eventually burned and set off a smoke alarm.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and found 19 cannabis plants growing in Bellshaw's home in the Hilltown area of Dundee.

His lawyers told Dundee Sheriff Court he had grown the cannabis after researching what type would best relieve the pain caused by a skydiving accident two years ago.

Bellshaw, 29, pled guilty to producing the class B drug at his home.
