BROADCASTER Stuart Hall has been charged with one offence of rape and 14 of indecent assault, police have said.

The 83-year-old former It's a Knockout presenter from Cheshire was arrested yesterday morning after attending a police station by appointment.

The rape is alleged to have been committed in 1976 against a 22-year-old woman. The indecent assault offences are alleged to have been committed between 1967 and 1986 and to involve 10 girls aged between nine and 16.

Mr Hall has been freed on bail to appear before magistrates in Preston on February 7.

Earlier this month he pled not guilty at Preston Magistrates Court to three charges of indecent assault alleged to have been committed between 1974 and 1984 and involved three girls aged between nine and 17.

Mr Hall is best known for his eccentric style of sports reporting on BBC Radio 5 live and his work on the 1970s TV show It's A Knockout and European spin-off Jeux Sans Frontières.

A familiar broadcasting face and voice for half a century, he was awarded an OBE in the 2012 New Year Honours.
