A "bullying" nurse who told elderly patients they could not close the curtains around their bed until they were dead has been struck off.

Rosalind Mackintosh grabbed residents of the Inverness care home by the neck, swore at them and refused to wash them, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard.

Panel chairman Kevin Walters said: "The panel is satisfied there is evidence of a consis- tent pattern of grossly inappropriate conduct, including abuse and mistreatment of residents, over a prolonged period of time.

"She has demonstrated no compassion for the residents whom she has mistreated."

The panel found six charges of bullying residents between August 2008 and February 2010 at the Seaview House Care Home proved.

Mackintosh did not attend the hearing but denied the charges.
