A 44-year-old man has been evicted from his council flat after repeated loud parties and claims of stairwell brawls.

Douglas Blakey, of Calder Grove in south-west Edinburgh, was evicted by sheriff's officers after continued breaches of an anti-social behaviour order.

Over the past two years neighbours complained about loud parties, loud music and allegations of fighting in his tenancy and the common stair. He received formal warnings from the council but the complaints continued.

Councillor Cammy Day, housing leader for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: "Evicting a tenant from their home is not something that the council does lightly but in this case we had to take the strongest possible action."
