A NURSE who was convicted three times of criminal behaviour has been struck off.

Bridget McAleer from Dalkeith, Midlothian, also failed to consent to a medical examination on six occasions after bosses witnessed the nurse "shaking and sweating" while on shift.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council discovered she had been found guilty of breaching a court bail order in 2009, breaching the peace in May 2010 and resisting or hindering police officers three months later. McAleer was subsequently admonished on all three charges following appearances at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

McAleer failed to attend an NMC disciplinary hearing, held in London on Tuesday.

The NMC panel stated: "The panel concluded the appropriate and proportionate sanction is a striking off order in order to protect the public and maintain confidence in the profession and the NMC as a regulator."
