Frozen spaghetti and lasagne meals have been stripped from supermarket shelves as fears over contaminated meat products spread.

Retail giant Tesco and discount chain Aldi have withdrawn ready meals produced by French food supplier Comigel following concern over products containing horse meat.

A Tesco spokesman said the step was a precaution after Findus beef lasagne was removed from sale.

He added: "There is no evidence that our product has been contaminated."

Aldi would not confirm whether the products it had withdrawn had been contaminated or mislabelled.
