RECORD number of Scottish school-leavers are going to university, college, training or a job, new figures are expected to show.
Official statistics published today by the Scottish Government will indicate nearly 90% of pupils leaving school went into a "positive destination" in 2011/12, compared to 89% the previous year.
The statistics also include the highest ever proportion of pupils going into higher education, either at university or college, with 37.3% in 2011/12 compared to 35.8% in 2010/11.
Some 27% went to college to study a further education course, the same as last year, while nearly 20% went into employment compared to 19.3% in 2010/11.
Figures for unemployment show 9.7% of the 50,892 school-leavers could not secure a job this year, compared to 10.8% last year.
Youth Employment Minister Angela Constance will discuss the figures at an event in Glasgow today organised by the Prince's Trust and Glasgow Enterprise Zone.
The event is aimed at sparking entrepreneurship and encouraging 16 to 30-year-olds to consider starting a business.
