THE Scottish Chamber Orchestra is set to receive a financial boost from being chosen for the iTunes list of "essential" classical music records.

The online music provider has chosen to feature the SCO's version of Mozart's Late Symphonies, conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, in its classical top 30.

The promotion is likely to bring more sales to both the SCO and Linn records, the Scottish label which released it.

Roy McEwan, the SCO's chief executive, said: "We're delighted that one of our landmark recordings has been included amongst some of the great recordings of the last 50 years.

"It's a testament to the quality of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the special relationship we developed with Sir Charles Mackerras, along with the partnership which we still have with Linn Records."
