Thousands of Islamists have marched in Tunis in a show of strength a day after the funeral of an assassinated secular politician drew huge crowds.

About 6000 supporters of the ruling Ennahda movement rallied in a show of solidarity with their leader, Rachid al-Ghannouchi, who was the target of angry slogans raised by mourners at Friday's funeral of Chokri Belaid.

Belaid's shooting has shaken a nation still seeking stability after the overthrow of Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali in January 2011. Belaid's family has accused Ennahda of the killing. The party denies any hand in it.
