SALES of 10 bottles of an exceptional Glenfiddich whisky, created in honour of Scotland's oldest woman, have raised more than £400,000 for charity.

Considered one of the most precious whiskies ever released by The Glenfiddich Distillery, the Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve whisky was produced to recognise the long life and contribution that Mrs Roberts – granddaughter of the founder of Glenfiddich, William Grant – made to her family's distillery.

Mrs Roberts died in April 2012 at the age of 110.

Only 15 bottles were created in her honour in 2011. Ten have now been auctioned globally, setting new auction-room records in the UK, US and Canada as the most expensive spirit ever sold.
