A Young Scots film-maker has scored a coup after attracting leading film actor Anthony Head to star in his short sci-fi film for free.

Johnny Kenton, of Pitlochry in Perthshire, raised more than double the money needed to finish his short film, Hereafter, which is being shown on the internet.

Head, who has starred in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and BBC's Merlin, gave his services free of charge after Mr Kenton raised more than £8000 for his thriller, which he believes could be a pilot for a US-funded mini-series.

Also due to appear in the film are Lydia Wilson, who starred in Never Let Me Go; Rob Ostlere, from Game of Thrones; and Morgan Watkins of The Hour.

Filmed in one week, the movie tells the story of a woman named Katcher, who lives in a world where people have an internet feed directly channelled into their heads.

Mr Kenton raised the money through crowd-funding, where producers and directors attempt to get their projects off the ground by using the internet to source funding.
