CELTIC is to install what it claims is one of the most technologically advanced wi-fi networks ever seen for football fans at Celtic Park.

The technology will deliver high speed web access to thousands of mobile phones and tablets at the 60,832 capacity ground, amid predictions it will change the face of match-days.

It will kick off in time for the 2013/14 season and is similar to those already in place at Real Madrid and Manchester City.

A similar system set up at City's Etihad stadium paved the way to providing a service that will let fans watch live video and replays of the action.

Celtic said the network would allow fans access "to a range of content and the ability to instantly share content from memorable Celtic Park experiences with friends, family and fellow Celtic fans across the world".

Digital marketing agency Sports Revolution are working with Celtic to develop an exclusive app called CelticLive that fans will be able to download to their smartphones.

The club said in a statement: "The app, built on Sports Revolution's StadiumLive platform, will give users the ability to view and interact with a wide range of relevant and engaging club content, specifically designed to enhance match-day."
