TIGER WOODS has parked his private £39 million private jet at Edinburgh Airport after flying into The Open at Muirfield.
The 37-year-old's golfer's Gulfstream plane, which he owns outright, is one of at least four US-registered private jets on the apron.
The Nike-backed tournament favourite proved he knows how to travel in style when his 2008 G5 jet touched down. Bought in 2008, it is registered to his GTW Corp company and £39.4m estate in Jupiter, Florida.
He shares the estate with girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, a 28-year-old skier, who is currently in Scotland to support him.
He set up home at the 10,000 sq ft mega mansion after divorcing from former swimwear model and wife-of-five years Elin Nordegren, 33, after a series of affairs were exposed in 2009
The plane has been joined by various other private US-registered jets creating one of the world's most exclusive, expensive desirable parking lots.
A source said: "That's the way these guys roll. Woods owns his jet outright, which is pretty unusual, but then again he's in the mega wealthy category."
The Open Championship, with an estimated global TV reach of 500 million will generate over £70m for the Scottish economy.
An East Lothian Council spokesman said: "We've had many stars at The Open, including Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas and Alice Cooper.
"Many of them return for every competition. We never know in advance who will be coming, but we expect to see quite a few famous faces."
It is being suggested other planes could soon be joining them, with singer-actor Justin Timberlake and Samuel L. Jackson rumoured to be among the VIPs due to watch the tournament.
