SCOTTISH tennis player Elena Baltacha has celebrated getting married to her long term coach and boyfriend.

The 30-year-old said 'I do' to partner Nino Severino as famous faces, including Judy Murray and former ladies tennis star Anne Keothavong watched.

The couple wed on Sunday just a month after Elena announced her retirement from tennis.

Judy Murray, mother of Wimbledon champion Andy, sent a message on internet site Twitter congratulating the couple on a "gorgeous, gorgeous day".

Elena plans to focus on producing the next British star of the future through the coaching centre she runs with Nino in Ipswich.

When she announced her retirement from tennis last month she admitted her body could no longer stand the physical demands of the sport.

Her career saw her win 11 titles despite being diagnosed at 19 with primary sclerosing cholangitis, a chronic liver condition that compromises the immune system.

Baltacha broke into the world's top 50 at her peak and is the highest-ranked female singles player Scotland has ever produced.

She twice reached the third round of the Australian Open and made the same stage of Wimbledon in 2002.
