TWO of Scotland's ­Commonwealth hopefuls needed hospital treatment after an accident.

Cyclists Charline Joiner and Kerry MacPhee were involved in a "big pile-up" during training on Saturday.

Miss Joiner tweeted a picture of the two in hospital and thanked followers for their wishes. The Dunfermline-born athlete sustained three minor ­fractures to part of her spine, while Miss MacPhee suffered a minor concussion and a sore shoulder.

Miss Joiner tweeted: "After a big pile-up in ­yesterday's training @KerryMacPhee has a mild concussion and bashed up shoulder. She is hard as nails!

"After my x-rays, scans and ultrasound the doctors gave me the results. Fractured 3 of my transformers processors [transverse processes] attached to my spine."

She added: "Thanks for all the get well wishes. Overwhelmed. Massive thanks to @KerryMacPhee for looking after me!"
