PAOLO Nutini has admitted he took a four-year break from music after struggling to cope with the pressures of fame.

The singer told how he has never got used to being famous and had to take a step back from the limelight.

The star, from Paisley, Renfrewshire, is set to make a comeback when his third album Caustic Love is released in April.

He described how he retreated home to Scotland after being left stressed and burnt out by constant touring and the demands of stardom.

He said: "It all got a little bit intense and heavy. Then I took a step back and had a listen to myself and some of the things I was moaning about - certain pressures that became an issue.

"It only takes going home for a little while to put these things into perspective."
