A WOMAN has died in a three-vehicle crash that left a major route to England blocked.

The victim, who was travelling in a Ford Ka, died after yesterday's accident on the A75 on the outskirts of Dumfries, the main route between the ferry port of Stranraer and England.

Meanwhile, emergency crews have freed a man and woman from a car thatcrashed on Kilmacolm Road heading towards Bridge of Weir, yesterday in Inverclyde. The woman passenger had been trapped and winches were used to stabilise the car before she could be cut free. The pair were treated in the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
