A grandfather-of-three fan from Dumfries has vowed to buy a Celtic season ticket after scooping £585,956 in Saturday's National Lottery draw.
Alfie Crosbie, 60, said he could never afford a season ticket for his favourite team before his numbers came up.
He said: "I'm a big Celtic fan too. I could never afford a season ticket but I might treat myself to a few more matches now."
The Celtic fan discovered he had won when he checked his numbers on television on Sunday morning.
He said: "I just couldn't believe it, so I shouted my wife Anne down to double-check. When she saw the numbers she burst into tears.
"Then we were straight on the phone to my daughter Carrie who lives in Catterick; she jumped into her car right away to drive up and join us.
"The win is great and means we can relax without money worries. One thing I am definitely going to buy is a new car.
"I've never been able to walk into a showroom and just say 'I want that one', but that's what I will do now. I've always wanted a Honda but you never know I might take a fancy to the car next to it and take that instead."
Mr Crosbie, a facilities support worker for Dumfries and Galloway Council and his 59-year-old wife, have three grandchildren, a four-year-old girl and two boys aged eight and eleven.
He said: "What a start to the new year. The festive season has just passed but the grandkids have already started on new wish lists - they think Christmas has come round again already!"
The winning Lotto numbers for the January 4 draw were 4, 11, 18, 28, 41, 44 and the bonus ball was 8.
