Sellafield and Network Rail have lost appeals against fines.
In February last year, Sellafield Ltd was fined £700,000 for sending bags of radioactive waste to a landfill site. Network Rail challenged a £500,000 fine after a boy was seriously injured in an accident on an unmanned level crossing in Suffolk, in July 2010.
