A woman has died after being hit by a car while using a pedestrian crossing.

Carol Collins, 68, died in hospital after she and another woman, 67, were struck by a black Range Rover on the B762 Barrhead Road in Pollock, Glasgow.

Both women were taken to Southern General Hospital in the city following the crash at about 4.45pm on Saturday, Police Scotland said.

The second woman had injuries to her arm.

The driver of the car, a 42-year-old man, stopped at the scene. He was not injured, police said.

The road was closed until about 10.15pm.

Constable Paul McNamee said: "There were a number of people in the area when the incident happened.

"We have managed to speak to some of them, however, would still appeal for further witnesses to come forward."

Ms Collins was from the Pollock area, police said.
