Police have seized £113,000 worth of cocaine along with firearms ammunition as part of an ongoing operation to tackle serious and organised crime.

Two men were arrested and charged following the investigations in Edinburgh.

Officers carried out intelligence-led searches and enquiries at properties in Lower Granton Road, Captains Road and Burdiehouse Avenue between January 15 and 17.

They seized £113,000 worth of cocaine along with a small quantity of cannabis, firearms ammunition and a CS spray canister.

Police Scotland said that a 22-year-old man was charged with alleged drugs and firearms offences and appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Another 22-year-old was charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act and Firearms Act on Friday.

Detective Inspector Stuart Harkness said: "These arrests reflect Police Scotland's continued commitment to tackling serious and organised crime groups operating in Edinburgh.

"Through working with the local communities and gathering vital intelligence from them it allows us to carry out these type of operations.

"A recovery of drugs to this value will have a significant impact on those involved in their distribution and the recovery of the ammunition and CS spray helps make our streets safer.

"I would appeal for members of the public who have information in relation to crime in their area to share this with officers from their new community policing teams, through contacting 101 or alternatively they can contact the charity Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111."
