A man has been charged with having an imitation firearm at a city centre casino.

Officers received a report of a person with what appeared to be a weapon in the Gala Casino in Glasgow's Glassford Street at 2.35pm today.

Police said a 40-year-old man was arrested and charged under section 19 of the Firearms Act, which covers imitation weapons.

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At no time during the incident was there any threat to the public."
