THE funeral of former footballer Ian Redford will take place in Perth tomorrow.

Mr Redford, 53, was found in woods near Irvine on Friday, January 10. There were no suspicious circumstances.

He joined Rangers from Dundee for a then Scottish record fee of £210,000 in 1980 and his exploits in Glasgow included scoring the winner in Rangers' 1981 League Cup final victory.

After six seasons at Rangers, where he made almost 250 appearances, he joined Dundee United in 1985 where he won a runners-up Uefa Cup medal and Scottish Cup medal in 1987.

The service will be held at Perth Crematorium at 2pm.
