A LOCAL authority has revealed plans for a 5mph speed limit on bikes in city parks.
The Glasgow City Council proposal, which would slow cyclists to walking pace, have been described as "ridiculous and unenforceable". Under the proposals, cyclists are asked not to be a nuisance to other park users and will only be allowed to ride on designated roads and paths.
David Brennan, cycling campaigner for Pedal on Parliament, said: "It is difficult and actually quite unsafe to keep your balance on a bike at that speed. This seems to demonstrate a wider attitude held by the council that cycling is just a nuisance."

The move is part of the council's Park Management Rules consultation, which also includes proposals to make dog walkers keep their pets on a tighter leash.
