Sara Piedominici of Edinburgh auction house Lyon & Turnbull carefully holds a 2000 year-old necklace before it goes under the hammer - with expectations it could reach £1800.

The piece is part of the collection of the late Simon John Noble, the laird of Ardkinglas House and Estate in Argyll and Bute who founded Loch Fyne Oysters. Theo Burrell, antiques specialist at Lyon & Turnbull, said it was a favourite piece, adding: "It is a wonderful piece which highlights the versatility of jewellery." It goes under the hammer on Saturday.
