An elderly woman was struck and killed by a car reversing out of a driveway, police have said.

Elizabeth Hossack, 85, died at the scene of the collision in Livingston, West Lothian, yesterday.

The pensioner was walking on Golf Course Road just after 3pm when she was hit by the Toyota Corolla car.

Investigators sealed off the road for five hours and have appealed for witnesses.

Sergeant Neil Inglis, from Police Scotland, said: "We are currently trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision, which tragically resulted in an elderly woman's death.

"Anyone with information that can assist us with our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately."
