Police in Edinburgh have launched an investigation after a man's body was found in a local park.

They were alerted to the body at around 7.30am on Saturday in the city's Victoria Park.

Police Scotland have not yet indicated whether the man's death is seen as suspicious, and are currently treating it as "unexplained".

A spokesman said: "Officers from Police Scotland are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man in Victoria Park in Edinburgh.

"The body was found around 7.30am and the investigation is still at an early stage."
