ONE of Scotland's biggest music festivals is likely to be held later than normal this year, to ensure it does not clash with the World Cup.

The staging of the Commonwealth Games is also reducing alternative dates for RockNess.

Last year the event in June attracted 35,000 music fans to Dores at the north-eastern end of Loch Ness, with performers including Plan B, Fatboy Slim and Madness.

There had been online speculation it could be cancelled this year, but the organisers said they were continuing to work on plans for this year's RockNess and announcements would be made in the near future.

The World Cup, in Brazil, runs from June 12 to July 13 and the 2014 Commonwealth Games are in Glasgow from July 23 to August 3.
