PARENTS from a nursery attached to Scotland's national deaf school have won their fight to access funded places under the Scottish Government's childcare policy.

West Lothian Council had decided to drop the pre-school centre at Donaldson's School, in Linlithgow, from its list of partnership nurseries, meaning families could no longer take part in the national part-time free nursery places scheme.

Campaigners called for a review arguing the decision penalised working families because council nurseries were unable to provide the same flexible services.

The council has now reversed its decision "following the receipt of additional information" while another private nursery in the area, called Oakwell, has also been granted funded places. A parent from Donaldson's said: "We're absolutely delighted the council was willing to look at the matter."
