It looks like a scene from The Day of the Triffids, but behind these plants lies a new Tiki sculpture of Lono, the god of peace and cultivated plants.

Unveiled at the Kibble Palace in Glasgow's Botanic Gardens, the icon by Robert Coia is one of a series of Commonwealth Legacy Sculptures being revealed in the run up to the 2014 games.

With Mr Coia are Reiss Kasule, right, and Jack Torrance, both 11 and pupils at the city's Notre Dame Primary.

Kibble Palace houses a vast collection of unusual plants.
