Sudan's government has suspended the activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the country, the organisation has said.

The government's Humanitarian Aid Commission told the ICRC on Wednesday that its work would be suspended due to "technical issues relating to its humanitarian plans for this year".

It is not the first time the African nation has suspended or expelled a humanitarian organisation. The ICRC provides aid to more than a million people in Sudan, including medical supplies and food in Darfur.
