A bungling doctor admitted the potentially lethal dose of insulin she prescribed for an 87-year-old woman was enough "for an elephant".
Dr Lucy Mahinda made an entry to administer a 38 units of the drug to the woman - nearly ten times the correct dose of four.
If the medicine had been given to the patient she could have slipped into a coma and died, but the error was spotted by a nurse at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.
The medic has been found guilty of a number of clinical mistakes while working as a foundation year doctor in May and June 2012.
