HARRY Benson stands in front of one of the photographs which launched his career as a major exhibition of his work begins.

The Glasgow-born photographer took the image of The Beatles having a pillow fight in the George V Hotel in Paris in 1964. He has photographed every American president from Dwight D Eisenhower to Barack Obama and was there as the Berlin Wall was built and then torn down.

The retrospective, Harry Benson: Fifty Years Behind the Lens, is on at Mallett in London until February 15.
