A husband who stabbed his wife in the back and told police:
"Next time she will need a coroner" has been jailed for six years.
John Jeffs, 47, admitted assaulting wife Rosalind to the danger of her life at their home in Easterhouse, Glasgow.
He attacked her with a knife, causing a collapsed lung and permanent scarring.
The court was told a row developed after Mrs Jeffs returned home at 7am after spending the night at a friend's house following a 40th birthday party.
Jeffs demanded to know where she had been and followed her into the bathroom with a knife and stabbed her.
Judge Bill Dunlop QC told Jeffs: "What you did was appalling. Because of the gravity of what you did I am anxious to protect the public from serious harm from you on your release and, in particular, your wife."
Judge Dunlop also ordered Jeffs to be monitored in the community for four years after his release.
